Top art exhibitions to see in Hong Kong this month

Whether it's vibrant street art and graffiti or world-class art galleries, Hong Kong is a city that's bursting with incredible art by both local and international talents. To narrow things down and help you be well on your way to true culture vulture status, here are some of the best art exhibitions around town this month.

Hong Kong International Photography Festival 2018.10.25-21.19

The Hong Kong International Photo Festival was initiated in 2010 by 19 Hong Kong photographers across several generations.

The Festival focuses on a different theme in each edition, introducing noteworthy photographers, trends, and movements. Through exhibitions, lectures, seminars, workshops, fairs, and screenings, HKIPF bridges Hong Kong and international visual practitioners, and creates conversations between people and place, past and present, and oneself and the world.

In 2018, HKIPF launched its first Open Call for Satellite Exhibitions and has selected visual practitioners working across different forms of expression to participate. Each artist has created an exhibition that echoes the Festival theme and incorporates photography as a key element. The exhibitions will be on public display at a range of venues, connecting artists with various communities across Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Photo Book Fair 2018

The 4th Hong Kong Photobook Fair will be held on
30 March - 1 April 2018
and we invite you to join us once again for the biggest and exciting week of art fairs and events in Asia, including Art Basel Hong Kong (29-31 March 2018) and Art Central (27 March - 1 April
2018) and a host of other events at Hong Kong’s art galleries and art spaces.

The Hong Kong Photo Book Awards 2014 - deadline 1 December 2014

The aim of the Hong Kong Photo Book Awards is to promote the development of digital photographic culture in Hong Kong, while simultaneously paying public respect to the photo book as an autonomous art form.

Photography Tours

Photography tours
Hong Kong photography courses and tours are offered by Jackie Peers, a Hong Kong based photographer with 15 years experience, she runs Walk Hong Kong's photography workshops which are proving very successful. One of Jackie's passions is the abandoned villages of Hong Kong - the photos below are samples from her recent exhibition here in Hong Kong. She lives in Sai Kung Country Park and has an intimate knowledge of its most picturesque, remote and photogenic corners. Another of Jackie's favourite locations for her photography tours is the vibrant backstreets of Kowloon. If you're looking for a photography course, photography workshop or just a some quality time with your camera, then Jackie can accommodate your needs. These outings can also be booked as personlaised photography tours.

iPhone Photography Awards - deadline 31 March 2015

Rules
All images must be taken with an iPhone, iPod or an iPad. The photos should not be altered in Photoshop or any desktop image processing program. The use of any iPhone/iPad App is permissible. iPhone add-on lenses such as Olloclip can be used. In some cases we may ask the original image to verify that it’s taken with an iPhone, iPad or iPod. The photos that can not be verified are disqualified.
